Lesson 4 is late, but the site kept moving

First, an apology: Lesson 4 of the Harmony Course, on triads or fifth chords, is still under construction. It has taken longer than I expected. I am still working on it and will publish it as soon as it meets the standard of the rest of the course.

In the meantime, the site did not stand still. The way I work changed a lot these months: AI tools can now help write code, review an entire website for errors and even model 3D objects in Blender from a description. I have used them to move forward on things that would have taken me years on my own. This is what came out of it.

3D games with our own models

The game modes of several apps now have scenery and objects modeled in Blender:

• Bathysphere, in Chord Recognition: a dive to the sea floor with a shipwreck, rock arches, a coral garden and the remains of a whale.
• Hot-air balloon, in Sing Chords: a balloon ride among clouds, a lighthouse and a sky whale.
• Tonal Express, in Major Scale Degrees: a train with its cab and its terminal.
• The Comet, in Minor Scale Degrees: a new cockpit for riding the comet.
• The Clouds, in Perfect Pitch Multi-timbral: floating islands, kites, a rainbow portal and a winged unicorn.

A more stable, faster site

• Our own audio: almost every app sound is now served from our own domain, and a bug that sometimes kept sounds from loading was fixed.
• Virtual Teacher: it automatically checks the MIDI exercises of lessons 1, 2 and 3. Here is how it works.
• Lighter pages: lesson videos only load when you press play, and Cosmic Ear went from downloading almost 1 MB to about 185 KB.
• Fixes: the bubble game in the Memory app works again, pages that do not exist show a clear notice, and every change to the site now goes through automated tests.

What comes next

The priority is finishing Lesson 4. After that we will continue with the rest of the course and with the games that are still waiting for their new models.
